Professor Randy Gonzales is the head instructor and co-owner of Believe Jiu Jitsu — known for his dynamic teaching style and deep passion for the art. He earned his Black Belt under Professor Danny Stolfi, building on a foundation of excellence with his previous belts awarded by a 6th Degree Black Belt and World Champion.

Holding a Master's Degree in Science, Professor Randy brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical application to his instruction. His expertise in anatomy, physiology, and range of motion shapes every position he teaches — you don't just learn a move, you learn why it works.

Believe Jiu Jitsu offers a welcoming, family-oriented environment with something for every kind of student. Whether you're a parent getting back in shape, a teenager looking for confidence, or a competitor preparing for the next IBJJF tournament — the training meets you where you are.

Conveniently located inside Charleston Family Fitness in Summerville, the academy runs a full week of Gi and No-Gi classes across adults, teens, and two distinct kids programs. Every class is 60 minutes — focused, structured, and taught by people who know what they're doing.

Simple rules that keep the academy uniform, safe, and respectful for everyone rolling.

  • GiBlack or white only during basics, fundamentals, and advanced classes.
  • Open MatAny color Gi or No-Gi welcome.
  • No-GiBlack shorts + rash guard. Spats or compression pants strongly recommended.
  • MalesShorts must be worn over leg compressions — no exceptions.
  • Rash GuardAlways worn under the Gi kimono.
  • BrandYou don't have to buy our brand — just keep uniforms free of other academy logos.
  • HygieneWash before and after every session, especially if you're training twice a day.
