Leverage
Beats Strength.
A smaller, technically-trained person controls a larger untrained attacker — every time. It's geometry, joint mechanics, and timing. Not muscle.
We teach you how to become an expert at self-defense using Jiu-Jitsu — for adults, teens, and kids age five up. Gi & No-Gi. Black-belt instruction under Professor Danny Stolfi.
Black-Belt Instruction · All Levels Welcome
32.0185°NStriking is for movies. In a real situation, the fight goes to the ground in seconds — and whoever knows what to do down there wins. That's Jiu-Jitsu.
A smaller, technically-trained person controls a larger untrained attacker — every time. It's geometry, joint mechanics, and timing. Not muscle.
End the fight without throwing a punch. No bruises. No broken hands. No escalation. Hold them safely until help arrives — or walk away clean.
We don't shadow-box self-defense. Live rolling means every technique gets pressure-tested against a fully resisting partner — every single class.
No contracts. No pressure. Show up, grip up, and find out if this is where you want to train.
Hit "Book Your Free Class" and drop your info. Name, email, phone, which class — done. No contracts, no card required.
Adults, kids, Gi, or No-Gi — pick a date and time from our live class calendar. You'll get an email and SMS the second you book.
Arrive ten minutes early. We'll get you a loaner Gi if you need one, pair you with a partner, and walk you through warmups. That's it — you're training.
Here's exactly what happens the first time you step on the mat. No surprises, no judgment, no "do you have any experience?" interrogation. Just six steps and you're training.
Walk in 10 minutes early. Coach Flavia greets you, signs your waiver, hands you a name tag. That's it.
No gi yet? We've got loaner gis in every size. Or wear a t-shirt and shorts for No-Gi. We'll figure it out.
Light mobility drills. Shrimps, breakfalls, hip escapes. Movements that make Jiu-Jitsu feel natural, not awkward.
Professor Randy walks the technique step-by-step. You partner up, drill it slow, then a little faster. Reps build the move into your body.
Want to roll? Pair up, light intensity, 5-minute round. Want to watch? Sit on the side and study. Zero pressure.
Stay 5 minutes. Ask anything. Pricing, schedule, kid programs, what to wear next time. Then go home and decide.

Professor Randy earned his Black Belt under Professor Danny Stolfi, with previous belts awarded by a 6th Degree Black Belt and World Champion. A Master's degree in Science brings a different kind of coaching to the mat — anatomy, physiology, range of motion. You don't just learn a move. You learn why it works.
You're not just students. You are family.
Simple rules that keep the academy uniform, safe, and respectful for everyone rolling.
Inside Charleston Family Fitness. Plenty of parking, easy access off N. Creek Dr.
Straight from the students and their families who train here every week.
I've been at Believe since the doors opened. Professor Randy and his family are the most compassionate people you'll meet. You're not students — you are family. I Believe.
Incredible instructors, family friendly, beginner friendly, competitive — all the good things. The professor and his wife are the kindest people. You won't regret it.
I absolutely love it here. As a woman, everyone works to make you feel comfortable and included. Professor Randy is an amazing instructor and Flavia is so welcoming.
The best there is. The instruction, care and attention given by Professor Randy, Coach Flavia and the Believe team is impeccable. My kids are learning incredible life-long skills and having fun doing it.
Our kiddo has been going since they opened. Professor Randy's teaching style and his ability to meet each child where they are has led to Noah being engaged and committed to class.
Randy is an outstanding coach. Excellent techniques, truly enjoyed every practice. His passion for BJJ comes through every class. The team is fantastic — everyone is incredibly welcoming.
Every single one of these has come up in the lobby before someone tries their first class. Here's the straight answer.
Every adult on our mat was a beginner once — most within the last 12 months. We pair you with a partner who's exactly your level, and Professor Randy modifies every drill so you learn at your speed. The "slowest person" myth dies the second you walk in.
Zero. If you can walk up a flight of stairs, you can train your first class. Jiu-Jitsu builds the kind of fitness no gym membership ever will — and it builds it on you, not before you start.
Five years old in our Little Kids program. Coordination, body awareness, listening, falling safely, and confidence — those are the actual skills we build. Submissions come later, when they're ready.
No. We have loaner gis in every adult and kid size for your first few classes. If you stick around, a beginner-quality gi runs $80-120 and lasts a year. We'll point you to the right one — no upsell.
Yes. Two-person and three-person family pricing keeps it sane when parents and kids both train. Ask Coach Flavia after your first class — she'll lay out exactly what works for your household.
A little — same as a moderate workout. You'll use muscles you didn't know existed (forearms, hip flexors, neck). It calms down within 2-3 sessions. The trick is to come back to your second class even if you're sore. That's where the magic starts.
Yes. Coach Flavia trains with us, several women train with us regularly, and the academy culture is professional and respectful — full stop. The single best skill for personal safety is Jiu-Jitsu, and you'll be supported every step of the way.
Show up to the next one. We don't run a "punch-card" model — Jiu-Jitsu is a long game. Two solid classes a week beats burning out trying to make six. Come consistently, and the rank takes care of itself.
Your first class is on us. No contract. No pressure. Just a real look at what training here feels like.
